Pet Helpers and James Island Host Rabies Vaccine Clinic

Charleston, SC-- The Town of James Island is partnering with Pet Helpers Adoption Center and Spay/Neuter Clinic to host a low-cost rabies vaccine clinic on Saturday, May 15, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at James Island Town Hall at 1112 Dills Bluff Road, Charleston.

The clinic will offer rabies and distemper vaccines for just $10 each, with the option to add a microchip for just $5. No appointments are necessary, and pet owners are asked to bring their photo identification and any previous vaccine records for their pets if available. All dogs MUST be on leashes, and all cats MUST be in carriers; unfortunately, aggressive animals cannot be accommodated. Cash, credit card, and checks will be accepted.

South Carolina state law requires all pets to be up-to-date on rabies vaccines and highly recommends distemper vaccines. Microchips are also highly recommended. In the event an animal is lost or becomes loose, a microchip can provide animal control or an animal’s finder with the owner’s contact information to reunite the lost pet and owner. In 2020, Pet Helpers provided more than 3,000 public vaccines and 1,055 microchips for owned pets.
