TUGS of Fun: A Toy for a Cause

TUGS of Fun started with Lindsay Shuler's 2 wild and crazy dogs that she trains in dog agility. Her Australian Shepherd, Abby, goes crazy during classes with all the stimulation. However, tugging keeps her mind and body occupied. So Lindsay started making tug toys using different knots with fleece. Belonging to a dog agility club, Lindsay realized there were many other people who might appreciate a toy like this. "I could offer a product that was more affordable and durable than something you would find at a chain pet store."

This last year, Lindsay trained with Team in Training for an Olympic distance triathlon in Washington, DC. " For Team in Training you have to raise a certain amount of money for your event. 75% of the money you raise is donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society for research and patient care," she says. Lindsay then put her tugs to the ultimate test and decided to sell them as an ongoing fundraiser for Team in Training; 95% of the money from these toys goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. That remaining 5% is purely to cover the cost of materials. "I am committed to making quality tug toys that dogs absolutely LOVE."
