New Nature Trails at Wannamaker

New Trails at Wannamaker

If you've done any exploring lately at Wannamaker county park, you might have noticed some new signs posted. Wannamaker has added some new nature trails (and updated a few) to their system.

I usually like to start any trip to Wannamaker at the dog park, so I can get my off-leash run on. Then we head out to check out some of the new trails. Mom says they are color coded, I'm better with scent coding, but I understand most dog parents prefer not sniffing trees. The first time mom took me on the new red trail we saw four deer run across the path in front of us, they surprised me so much I didn't even think about chasing them until it was too late!

The trails range in all sizes under 1 mile. You can make it a short walk if you like, but what is great is that they are interconnected allowing you to combine the trails and take a much longer hike if you want. There are some swings and benches along the way so you can take a break and just enjoy the scenery.

I've included a picture of the new trail map, but it is conveniently posted at all the new trail places with a "You Are Here" marker. You do need to remember to bring your pickup bags though, I haven't seen any new bag stations added. I'm really glad the park added these new trails, they make a great trip to Wannamaker even better.
