Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Weezie
My sweet little beagle is named Weezie and we live in Mount Pleasant. She has honestly changed my life in so many ways. She gives me a reason to go home and want to stay home. I just want to hang out with her all the time.
When I found her the vet said she was about 3 ½ years old; so she is about 6 ½ now. The day I found her is the most memorable because I saw her at a convenience store and she looked like a puppy because she was so skinny. She came up to my car door when I opened it put her paws on my car door and just looked at me. She is such a cute, adorable dog with the sweetest face in the world. I could not bear to leave her there. I put her in my car and she just sat in the passenger seat like she was so tired and so relieved. She stunk so badly that I had to keep the windows of my car rolled down. All of her ribs and spine were showing and she also had heartworms. That night she fell asleep on my chest and when my husband came home he knew we had a new member to our family. I have treated her for the heartworms and fattened her up quite a bit. She is one happy dog.
She didn’t like other dogs at first because I think she had to fight them to stand her ground when she “lived in the ghetto." She now enjoys playing with other dogs and she travels with me everywhere. If I am packing my car to go somewhere she jumps in and sits there because she doesn’t want to get left. She has to be in my lap if other people are around and she has to be touching me when she is sleeping.
I live in a townhome and she LOVES to sit in the parking lot and sunbathe. All the neighbors know her and speak to her when they get the chance. I do not have any problems finding someone to keep her if we have to go out of town. My friends beg me to let her stay with them. Everyone loves Weezie but not as much as I love her.
We have been trying to have a child for a while and it is because of Weezie that I do not stress so much about not being able to conceive. I know I will never find another dog with the sweet, calm and loving personality that Weezie has. I like to think that Weezie is just my little baby stuck in a dog’s body. Some say she is spoiled, I say she is just loved A LOT!!
