Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Royal
Royal Blue Moon aka Big Handsome is a 7 year old Blue Tick Coonhound rescue. He has been a special member of my family since May of 2009. Upon rescue we found out Royal was heartworm positive. It was devastating for both of us because I knew the commitment it meant from me and the strength it would take from him. After 9 very long mellow and medicated months Royal was told he was clear of his heartworms!
Royal since then has become his mom's favorite running partner. There is nothing he loves more than seeing the running shoes put on and his harness snapped into place! He loves the wind blowing his ears and how strong his heart has become after his illness. He is faithful and loyal to his mom and in December they completed their first 5k today dressed as an elf and her "reindog."
Royal is a strong boy and his dedication to running with his mom has changed her life because he made us both more energetic, happier, and healthier. There's nothing quite like 92 pounds of blue tick love to get you up and running every morning.
