Meet a Lowcountry Dog: Rex

Rex "The Wrecking Ball" Barber is our 2 year old Pure Bred Black Lab. The first time we took Rex to the ocean at the Sullivan's Island beach was so incredible. He'd only swam in lakes before so he was afraid of the water coming at him when the waves hit, but he found some buddies and was able to figure out how to swim around. He even learned to ride the waves in!! He's a real surfer and he charmed everyone who walked by and also found everyone's treats they had in their bags! He was so excited and when we left he passed out so hard it was the cutest thing ever!

Rex is a very active pup and loves to fetch after balls, frisbees and squirls! He's very sociable and wants to meet everyone that is near him. But I think now being so close to the ocean he has come to love swimming and even saying the word "beach" he goes crazy!! He also loves to cuddle and try to sit on anyone's lab; I think he thinks that he's a lot smaller than he really is!

He's always happy and smiling and just wants to be petted and his but to be scratched. He loves to fetch but he loves to play keep away with the ball and will make you work to get it from him! He's so playful and amazing with children to the elderly. He's very gentle and is always there to cheer you up, lick away your tears and bring you his favorite teddy bear to share.

My fiancee travels a lot and it's always scared me being at home by myself and was all around really hard. So he got me Rex and he's always been the most amazing company when he's gone. He's put such a positive spin on my life by forcing me to think of someone else than myself.
