Life Lessons from Zeke

I like to compile lists on important things I learn so hopefully I won't repeat them (such as jumping out of the truck window).  Here are a couple I thought I would share:

  • What goes up may or may not come down. Mom and I were at the park playing fetch with one of my bumpers. I was really starting to get into it, and evidently mom was too, because she got a little wild with her throw and it went straight up and got seriously tangled in a tree branch about 20 feet up in the air. We stood there and stared up at it for awhile, then I tried barking at it with no success. So mom decided she was going to get it down with by tying a second bumper to a long rope and snagging it. This actually turned out to be great fun because every time she threw and missed making the hook, I grabbed the bumper and took off running across the park with it and the rope trailing behind me. We did eventually get the stuck one out of the tree, it just took an extra long time since I helped.
  • Don't wear white to the dog park. Particularly after a heavy rain. Even the most well behaved among us are going to sense your dire need to be jumped upon and affectionately greeted. Turning your rockin' white pants suit into a magnificent muddy paw print canvas; embarrassing our parents even as they secretly question your choice in apparel. And yes, your own dog will probably join in the fun because even they knew better.
  • Frisbees are magnetically attracted to personal electronics. Generally speaking, throwing things indoors is frowned upon but I can't say it never happens at home. What mom and I have learned, however, is that if there is a laptop sitting on the counter in another room and she throws the frisbee it will defy all laws of physics and circle around--until like a heat seeking missile it has located the laptop and sent it crashing off the counter. The best move is to try to blame it on the cat.

Some things are just going to have be learned the hard way I suppose. Got any good life lessons? Do tell!
