Event date:
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 at 8:00am

Lace up your shoes, grab the family - and the pup - and head over to Brittlebank Park on May 22nd, 2010 for the 5th Annual Green and Lean 5K Run/Walk. This event helps to support Clean City Clara and other environmental education programs in the Lowcountry.

With the funds raised from this family (and fido) friendly event, the city-based program Keep Charleston Beautiful, can continue to offer its award winning education program, Clean City Clara, free of charge to any interested schools or youth groups year round.

This year, the 5th Annual Green and Lean 5K will be held at Brittlebank Park on Saturday, May 22nd, beginning at 8 AM. The Green and Lean 5K brings together two organizations, City of Charleston’s Keep Charleston Beautiful and the non-profit Friends of Keep Charleston Beautiful. These two groups work to improve the quality of life in the Lowcountry through litter prevention and waste responsibility education.

The race will begin at Brittlebank Park and participants will run down Lockwood, through Hampton Park Terrace, around Hampton Park and back to Brittlebank Park.

If you are planning on attending, say hello in the comments section. Let's see how many LCD readers we can have in attendance.

I'll be there -- running and volunteering at the event. Neither of my dogs (they are older) can run the 3 miles with me so I probably won't bring them but hope to see lots of other dogs out that day!!

This is an article that really calls for an action. The cause like this is what our Mother Earth would really like to have. By the way, the photo was cute with the dog. Love the concept.. Keep up the good work.
