Humane Net Three Day Adoption Extravaganza
Precocious pooches and fabulous felines of all shapes and sizes will strut their stuff at the Petsmart Charities Invitational Adoptathon on June 4‐6 at the Summerville PetSmart in the Lowcountry’s largest adoption event of the year.
Members of Humane Net, including Charleston Animal Society, Frances R. Willis SPCA, Doc Williams SPCA, Feline Freedom Coalition, Pet Helpers, Lowcountry Animal Rescue and Caradobe & Feline Rescue, will showcase dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in this special 3‐day event encouraging new and current pet owners to “make room for one more.”
The transition between spring and summer is the time of year when animals breed most, causing overwhelming pressure on animal shelters and rescue organizations. There simply is not enough space for all of the animals entering the sheltering system, causing many animals to be euthanized. This large adoption event provides an opportunity for local animal care organizations to match adorable pets with loving families and relieves some of the seasonal overpopulation pressure off of the animal organizations.
