Focus On: Fleas

Warm weather is here and so are the fleas! Prevent your pet from these biting menaces by following a few simple rules.

Facts First

  • Adult fleas seen by people only represent 5% of the total flea population. The rest of the population exists as the egg, larvae, and pupae stages waiting to mature.
  • Female fleas lay up to 50 eggs per day.
  • Immature stages hide in carpet fibers, bedding, and other dark places indoors and outside.
  • Fleas can live in the pupae stage for MONTHS before emerging to feed.

Product Tips

Treat all pets in your household. Oral medication (Sentinel and Comfortis) should be given with a meal. Do not give both medications at once in case of stomach upset.

Topical medications (Frontline and Revolution) use your pet’s natural oils to spread over the entire body. Do not give a bath 48 hours before or after using this product. For dogs, combining Sentinel (a heartworm preventative with a flea egg growth inhibitor) with a flea-specific product will provide the best protection.
