This year marks the last Rafter’s Trot event at Magnolia Gardens in January. For those who aren’t familiar with it, this event raises money for canine cancer research and is now in memory of Jane Hirsch's former Australian Shepherd, Rafter, who lived for 7 years with bone cancer before succumbing to the return of the cancer.
During those 7 years he visited both MUSC’s Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, as well as schools and nursing homes. He also worked to promote the awareness of canine cancer and to raise funds for its research. We have raised over $95,000.00 over the last 7 years and we hope to break $100,000.00 with this last event.
