DogStar Dog Running Enters 5K with Adoptable Canine

DogStar Dog Running & Pet Care is doing what they do best this Saturday at the Green and Lean 5K. They'll be running in the race with a new buddy, George the Greyhound mix, who is currently available for adoption from Pet Helpers.

Always looking for ways to increase awareness of homeless pets, brothers and DogStar owners Brett and Nick Eppehimer felt the dog-friendly 5K would be a great way to encourage the adoption of shelter dogs. "Think about it, your ideal running partner and best friend could be waiting for you just inside the doors of a shelter like Pet Helpers. For us, as runners, this event is the perfect opportunity to do what we love to do, while promoting a mission we deeply believe in" says Brett.

And DogStar found the ideal running companion for the race in George. A brindle Greyhound mix, George came to PetHelpers with a broken leg. His injury fully healed with the help of the PetHelpers staff and he's back to doing his favorite thing; running and being active! After a few training sessions, Nick Eppehimer and the Pet Helpers staff gave George the thumbs up to run in the race. "He's a wonderful dog. Full of personality, very friendly, energetic and works well on the leash. He'll be great in the 5K and would be a fantastic dog for a young, active family!" says Nick.

So let's root for Nick and George (wearing an Adopt Me vest) this Saturday in the Green and Lean 5K -- how wonderful would it be for George to be the first dog across the finish line, winning the race in the name of all adoptable dogs!

With a broken foot (mine) this would be a fabulous service to win!

Merrill -- make sure to post this actually over on the article about the giveaway to be considered. :-) I can't promise I'll remember to check back on this old article for entries.
