Daisy's Place Adoptable Dogs

It's Adoptable Dog Friday here on lowcountrydog.com. This week, we thought we would give you a sneak preview of available dogs from Daisy's Place Retriever Rescue who will be having a Meet & Greet on the 24th. Get a jump start on the adoption process or make the decision to foster or sponsor one of these retrievers in need!

1. Adidas

  • Hi, I'm Adidas, Adi for short! I'm a sweet 7 year old husky mix (my mother knew a Retriever once, so that's why I'm at Daisy's Place Retriever Rescue!). I was dumped at the shelter by my previous owner and the people at Daisy's Place can't figure out why ... I'm really a good girl! Right now I'm in a great foster home with another dog and two little people. I love to go for walks and I really like riding in the car! I bond really quickly with women, and I like men, too. Oh, and I do fine with cats, too - I'm basically laid back and easy going! I'm the kind of girl that would like to go everywhere with you and I'll stick right by your side! If you're looking for a new BFF (best fur friend) to share long walks and late night snuggles, I'm the girl for you!

2. Daisy

  • Hi, I'm Daisy and I'm a big sweet Saint Lab (Saint Bernard/Labrador Retriever). I was dumped in a really awful place called a shelter in North Carolina along with my brother. They separated us and I never got to see him again. I was so scared until a nice lady came to pick me up and she told me that I was going to Daisy's Place in Charleston. Daisy's Place - wow, with a name like that, I knew it was going to be a GREAT place and that I was meant to be there! After several long car rides with a bunch of nice people called transport volunteers, I finally got to Charleston. Now I'm with foster mom and dad and my fur siblings - two girl dogs, a boy dog and 2 boy kitties - I get along great with all of them. They even share their toys with me and let me curl up next to them on the daybed in foster mom's studio. At night I sleep on the floor next to foster mom's bed - sometimes I get to sneak up and cuddle, especially when I get scared during thunderstorms. Even though I'm really a big girl, I'd like to be a lap dog. I'm trying to get over my fear of loud noises, but I'm a little shy. I'm learning all about living in the city and taking walks on my leash. I love foster mom and dad, but I think I'd be happier living in a quieter place without so much street noise. I'm very well behaved and sometimes when foster mom has to go to work, I go to a place called Planet Bark and play with lots of other dogs and then I have a bath and mani/pedi! I'm even good about letting foster mom put ear drops in my ears when they hurt. I have to be honest, I have a hard time trusting new people - it takes me time to warm up with strangers and so my new forever family will need to have patience with me. I never growl or act ugly to new people - I just hide behind foster mom until I feel safe. I've been spayed and am heartworm negative - overall I'm a big healthy happy sweetheart! If you think you might have room in your home and heart for me, please call the people at Daisy's Place!

3. Drake

  • Hi there - I'm Drake! As you can see from my photo, I've got rakish good looks - and I'm charming as can be. Don't you just love how my one ear folds over? Oh, and the discoloring on the side of my face is my unique birthmark, I have pale brown fur on one side of my face giving me a really unique look! I'm what you might call a 'man about town', the nice people at the shelter in Florence found me on the streets and took me in. Well, of course, I won them over with my adorable personality - they loved me so much that they paid for my heartworm treatment and neuter! Then the ladies from Daisy's Place came and picked me and Delta up and here I am in Charleston waiting to meet my forever family. I'm feeling great after my heartworm treatment and I'm loving life with my foster family! I have two fur foster siblings and we have so much fun running and playing. My foster mom says I'm the BEST walking companion she's ever had - I stay right by her side and never pull on my leash. I'm very well behaved in the house - basically I'm perfect, if I do say so myself! I went to an event a couple of weeks ago and had so much fun hanging out with new people - I've never met a stranger, I just love everyone.

4. Hero

  • The nice people at Lowcountry Golden Retriever Rescue named me Hero because I was so brave when my owner left me at Animal Control after hours on Memorial Day Weekend. I can't understand how they could do this to me, I have given them years of love and this is how they repay me. All I have ever asked for was a little love. When I came in to the Rescue I was matted from head to toe and but my foster mom has made me beautiful again and boy do I feel better. I am in a foster home with 3 other goldens and doing great. I am up to date on my vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative. I would love a home with not so many steps because of some arthitis. I know most people look for a young pup but golden oldies have a lot to offer so please give me a chance for a forever home with you. If you are interested in adopting Hero, please contact: adoptions@lcgrr.org

5. Lily

  • Lily is a beautiful, almost white, Labrador Retriever. She’s a happy fun loving Labby girl who loves to go for walks in the woods and play with her squeaky toys! She will throw them in the air and catch them. She is wonderful with children and other dogs, but would be best in a home with no cats. Being an older lady, she takes 1 small pill morning and night in her food to regulate her thyroid, and it keeps her in tip top shape. Most importantly Lily loves to be with her people. She will get on the sofa and cuddle; she follows her foster mom and children everywhere they go. She sleeps at the foot of the bed unless she is invited up. When Lily is allowed on the bed she sleeps right next to her mom and doesn't move. Lily is a sweet girl who would love to find her forever family! Lily is currently in a foster home near Atlanta, GA, if you are interested in meeting Lily, please contact Sabrina at 404-557-2911 or email garciaclan@monroeaccess.net

6. Rosey

  • Hi! I’m Rosey, and I’m cute as can be! I was at a scary place called the shelter with my brother and sister and when the nice ladies from Daisy’s Place went to pick up Delta and Drake they just couldn’t leave us behind! So now I’m a Rosebud (honorary Daisy Dog under the age of 6). I’m a black Lab mix and I have the cutest little black and white polka dot paws! I love playing with the big dogs and swimming in the pool and I’m really smart. I’m (mostly) housebroken, sometimes I get excited running around foster mommy’s house and forget to run outside – oops! I’m also crate trained and sleep through the night. I love to snuggle, too. I start obedience classes in July and if you adopt me you can take me to class for free!

7. Sadie

  • Hi there, I'm Sadie, I was left at one of those awful kill shelters in Georgia. Luckily for me, an angel that worked there was looking out for me and called the good folks at Daisy's Place. After a couple of days I found myself in beautiful Charleston, where I was immediately taken to the vet for a check up. He found out that I was high heartworm positive, so I had to spend the night and start my treatment. Everyone there took really good care of me and then a nice man came to get me and now he’s my foster dad! The heartworm shot made me a little tired at first but I'm getting back to my old loving self now. I'm living with another Lab and a kitty at my foster's house and we all get along. I've been through quite a bit lately and I’m still a little shell shocked, so I need lots of TLC. I like it when my foster dad rubs my muzzle and lets me burrow into between his arm and chest. My foster mom says I smile at her when she comes home. I'm really a girl's girl but nice men like my foster dad are cool too. Cats are OK with me, and I really like their food! If you’ve got room in your heart and home for a sweet girl who gets along with everyone, please fill out an adoption application so you can meet me.

8. Savannah & Beaufort

  • Savannah and Beaufort were rescued by a good Samaritan from a high kill shelter in Savannah, GA. They both had to be bathed three times due to the amount of feces and dirt that was caked onto them. But look how beautiful they are now! It’s believed that Beaufort is a Rottie/Shepherd mix with some St Bernard and Savannah is a Rottie/Shepard mix. Beaufort is a wonderful, sweet baby! He loves to lick and has quickly became good friends with his foster parents' two dogs. Savannah is sooooo eager to please and is a very relaxed pup. She walks on a leash beautifully. She loves to cuddle too! After a bath, it was off to the vet. It was originally thought that they were brother and sister. When they were taken to a vet, they discovered that Beaufort was micro chipped. After speaking to their prior 81 year old owner, it was discovered that Savannah was actually Beaufort's mother! According to their prior owner he is about one and she is about two. She is unable to afford to feed them and would like for them to go to a loving home. Both were heartworm positive and have recently undergone treatment. Beaufort has been neutered and Savannah is spayed. They are current on all vaccinations. They have done well being crated while their foster parents are at work. And both do well with children and strangers - they even let their foster parents get near their bowls while they eat. Their foster parents would really love to keep Beaufort and Savannah together, but they can be separated if necessary. Please let them know if you can give Beaufort or Savannah – or both – the loving forever home they deserve! This is a courtesy listing – please contact Amy (foster mom) directly at 615-293-6268 if you are interested in adopting Beaufort or Savannah.

9. Sebastian

  • Hi! I'm Sebastian and if I do say so myself, I'm adorable! I was dumped at a shelter in North Carolina along with my housemate Sugar. We don't know why, 'cuz we're both really well behaved and very loving. The nice people at Daisy's Place took us in but I couldn't stay with Sugar because they didn't have a foster home for both of us together. I miss Sugar, but I'm also really happy to be with my people - I'd be happy in a home with or without other dogs. Cats are fine, too. Honestly, I'm pretty laid back and nothing much bothers me. All it takes to make me happy is a nice soft bed and some affection! I'm what you'd call a Lab mix - and am on the small side at 45 lbs. I have the cutest little wiggle when I'm excited and I wag my little docked tail! If you're looking for a new BFF (best fur friend) who just wants to hang out with you and isn't high maintenance, I'm your guy!

10. Sweet Pea / Ausset

  • Hi my name is Sweet Pea! My proper name is Ausset. You know us southern bells, we all have nick names. I’m 2 years old and looking to adopt a wonderful Human Being. I showed up last year in Greensboro with both left legs broken. My first foster family nursed me backed to health. Unfortunately, they already had 9 dogs on their farm and I just kept getting lost in the shuffle. When you meet me you’ll see that I’m a very loving girl who yearns for that canine-human bond. I’m house broken, leash trained, I know the commands for sit, lay down and stay and I have a clean bill of health! No heartworms and I’ve already been spayed. At my current foster home they have these cute little fuzzy things - I think they call them cats. They are way cool! On Mothers Day they took me to a pond and Wallie (my foster brother) went swimming. I’m not so sure about that so I just waded in the water. I’m super sweet, very obedient and can’t wait to meet you!

11. Sweetpea / Sweetie

  • Hi, I'm Sweetpea, my temporary foster mom calls me Sweetie! I was dumped in a high kill shelter in North Carolina with my sister, Sandy. A nice lady came and picked us up so we could have a second chance to have a happy life. We went to a great place with lots of room to run and a big barn. We were so happy - and then one day Sandy didn't wake up and my temporary foster mom said she went to the rainbow bridge. I was really sad without my life long companion, but I'm doing ok now and I have other dogs to play with and temporary foster mom gives me lots of love and attention. I have more energy than most seniors and I can give the younger dogs a run for their money! I really like to be with people and am happiest sitting with temporary foster mom getting and giving lots of love. I'm waiting to go to Daisy's Place, as soon as they find a great foster home for me. I can't wait to go to Charleston and meet my new people! If you're looking for a sweet older gal with plenty of love to give and lots of energy, please contact: melissa@daisysplace.org
