Carolina Cockers Adoptable Dogs

Adoptable Dog Friday is featuring Carolina Cockers. There are fourteen gorgeous cocker spaniels that need to be fostered, adopted, or sponsored. Read below for short descriptions of each of the dogs and click above for a slideshow of their photos. For more information on the adoption process or how to help sponsor these animals, check out their website carolinacockers.com.

1. Quicy

  • Quicy is single handedly the GREATEST Cocker on the planet. Apply now if you have no children nor plan to, Quincy is too jealous for children! Active, loves to run, plays fetch, housebroken and too sweet. Angel of a little man!

2. Bailey

  • Watch out Bailey is looking for a home! BayBay as he is known here in rescue is a whopping 46lbs and looking for a giant man sized home. He LOVES fishing, hunting, taking long walks through the country...this is a mans man. NO sissy dog clothes, no soap operas please. Hunk of a cocker looking for serious family to take long hikes, not get in his face and play fetch.

3. Samson

  • Samson has really settled down in his more mature age, as a younger dog I wouldn't have placed him in a home for anything. But know he just wants to do what Samson wants to do. He loves his toys, loves being Mr. Inquisitive, loves dinnertime and loves belly rubs. He will give kisses on occasion if you do something he thinks is worthy. Samson can be aggressive with other dogs during dinnertime though so needs to be separated while eating. Great man just needs tons of exercise and someone to take him jogging and play fetch with him. Cockers get aggressive due to boredom or if they are scared, since Samson has zero fears of anything it must be boredom. So exercise is the key to living with him. He has learned to walk on the treadmill donated by Laurel Crest Retirement home and that seems to work somewhat. He thinks it's lame but he does it anyways just to make me happy.

4. Bailey (#2)

  • Bailey is an incredible man to find in rescue. He is probably, without a doubt the most well trained cocker I have ever seen. He listens to exactly what you tell him and will always come when you call him, he will sit, lay down and do all kinds of fun things. He likes to play fetch as well, for the most part he is fairly active but when it's his down time he is a giant lump on your floor. He will not jump on the furniture unless invited. Bailey is aggressive towards groomers and anyone messing with his hair, so you have to have a professional do those things unless you are a dog trainer. He will bite anyone who messes with his hair. Hence, no kids please, even though he seems to do well with older children. He is 4 years old, buff and white, rather large for a cocker, will probably hunt and track on command and truly is a sweetheart. Oddly enough, he is not an alpha male and loves other dogs. I really believe he was a trained hunting dog.

5. Lizzy

  • Lizzy is truly a sweet girl but has many problems derived from being neglected and abused for many years. Lizzy LOVES kids but adults she is not particularly fond of. After she learns to love you there are no problems but she is known to bite strangers who try to touch her. EXPERIENCED COCKER OWNERS ONLY NEED APPLY. Update, Lizzy is getting sweeter by the day!!! She loves back rubs and WILL get into your trash can.

6. Candy

  • Candy is an incredible little 7 year old lady. She is slightly heartworm positive and needs to be kept current on heartworm preventative to get rid of these nasty pests. She also has a former eye injury that is creating a cataract, the veterinary opthmologist says not to worry about it anytime soon. Candy is just so loving and so much of a lap girl that it would be a total shame for anyone to overlook her for these minor issues. She is fine with other dogs just not while she is eating dinner and LOVES to play with her toys. Apply now!

7. Hoover

  • Hoover earned his name on the ride home from the shelter as he shredded everything in the car. He LOVES to get into trash cans and tear up paper. He even dumped out his water cup and shredded that. Alas lots of chew toys have taken the place of his trash shredding habit. Hoover is heartworm positive and is currently seeking funding for his treatment. If you can help please visit our website and donate, he really appreciates the help!

8. PT

  • PT is probably the single most remarkable rescue we have made. He is 9 years old but no one told him that, he still thinks he's 2. He has odd habits like dropping his tennis ball in the pool and barking at it until you get it out and throw it. He gives kisses and loves to be hugged. PT has MANY years left as he is active and playful. He will do anything for his tennis ball so that keeps him going! Apply now to give this man a home!

9. Baxter

  • Baxter is at the rescue for the second time. Baxter is microchipped which is how he found his way home to Carolina Cockers. They reclaimed him at the Beaufort, SC animal shelter. Baxter is a great fellow, great with all humans, other dogs and cats, he just has a skin problem and needs medicated baths. He is currently on medication for this and his eye issue and all of that will come around nicely. Baxter is about 7 according to records. He was originally rescued when he was 2. He is a rare chocolate cocker and a tad overweight at this time. More to love right?!

10. Edisto

  • Edisto was found on Craigslist in West Columbia, SC. One of Carolina Cockers volunteers met with two college girls who had found him as a stray. Unable to properly care for him, they turned over Edisto so we could find him a home. Very scared, very matted, very neglected. They shaved him down, gave him a great bath, a new name, and now he is looking for a new home!

11. Copper

  • Copper is a Pure Bred Cocker Spaniel and was turned in by his owner from Myrtle Beach, SC. Copper is housebroken, very sweet and playful. Needs a forever home of his own. Copper is a great boy with one cherry eye that will be repaired. He is really sweet, quite loving and extremely well mannered and eager to do whatever you tell him to do. (No photo)

12. Buddy

  • Buddy is a 1 to 2 year old buff male cocker who found himself in the Chas Animal shelter. He was unadoptable there because of a grade 3 heart murmur. Buddy is a super sweet little man, great with everyone. Adopt him now as he needs a fantastic new forever home!

13. Frederick

  • Frederick is just an angel of a little man who needs a forever home. He is about 1 to 2 years old. No toddlers but older children are okay. Other dogs fine, cats okay too.

14. Wood

  • Wood is a typical cocker: small in size, BIG in heart and attitude. No small children please as Wood takes a few days to learn to trust humans. He's had a tough life so far. He was left at a SC shelter fully matted and full of ticks. All that shaved off now but when his hair is grown he's outrageously gorgeous. If you need to smile on a daily basis and have some happiness restored to your life then Wood is your guy! Apply now!
