All Pooped Out
I’m sure you have experienced it; a nice little present just waiting to find the right shoe. Yep! You guessed it, and someone forgot to pick it up. Or did they? We all have that one dog owner in our neighborhood who conveniently "forgets" to scoop the poop, or just so happens to have used his or her last baggie "the other day."
Communities around the globe have been dealing with the pooch poop problem for years and finally someone is doing something about it. In the Baltimore area, residents fed up with this canine conundrum collectively came up with a plan to deal with the doody issue.
The community is suggesting DNA testing of every resident dog’s saliva. This would cost every resident a one-time fee of $50 for processing and a monthly fee of $10 per dog. Once the DNA is identified, the staff neighborhood staff would collect the unmarked landmines, and match the DNA to the responsible dog. From there, the offending dog owner would be fined a hefty fee of $500.
Apparently this process is catching on, and in other communities there are rewards given for submitting DNA samples, such as toys, dog beds and even a month of food. Charleston not adopted this method of dealing with people who don't scoop the poop. Should we? Would this help with the problem parks and beaches littered with dog feces?
What do you think about using DNA to identify and fine the responsible parties? Leave a comment below or check out the forums to see who is all all pooped out.
