2010 Model Contest Top 25 Finalists: And the Winner Is...
Top 25 Finalists of the 2010 Cover Model Contest Announced. Public to Choose Winning Top Dog!
*****UPDATE****** Polls are now closed. Roxy the Shiba Inu is our winner, with 555 votes, 17% of the vote. Congrats to Roxy and the rest of the Top 25 finalists!
It was a ruff decision but someone had to make it. Out of the nearly 600 dogs entered into this year's cover model contest held at Pet Fest, 25 Top Finalists were chosen based on overall "beauty," personality, special skills and that indescribable doggie je ne sais quoi. It was just too hard narrowing it down to a Top 10. Now the final decision is in your hands.
To vote:
First view the slideshow of all 25 finalists by clicking on the image above. In the Top 25 there are dogs of every shape, size, color, full breed and mixed breed. Dogs are presented in alphabetical order according to their names.
Then use the handy poll below to vote for your favorite. Select your favorite and click the VOTE button at the end of the poll! Voting will be open until May 7th 2010.
Share the Top 25 with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc., by clicking on the green SHARE button at the bottom of this post. It's an easy way to encourage your friends and family to cast their vote for YOUR favorite dog!
Feel free to use the comments section below to make a case for your choice, provide funny captions for each dog's photo and share your opinions. But let's keep it positive. I know there will be a lot of disappointed dog owners out there who feel their dog deserved to make it into the Top 25 finalists. Each and every dog is a winner, and this is why the June/July issue will contain the photos of all contestants!
Special thanks to King Street Studios for their awesome work and professionalism!

Vote for Jack #11! Jack just turned 2 and is a yellow lab. He is a rambunctious but sweet boy! He loves his sister Maggie, swimming, chasing the ball and digging. He is great at tricks and can sit, stay, lay down, shake, high five and he is working on jumping through a hoop! Vote for Jack!!
Smilin' Jack! I noticed his "wink" picture when they were first posted - what style! Good luck!
Thank you!!
Vote for Beauty!!! I rescued her from the ASPCA at 4 months old. She is now almost 2 years old and loving life! She is a basenji mix and loves to run, chase squirrels and birds, and get attention! She is a sweet girl who loves to give lovin! Vote for Beauty to support rescues! They can be models too!

Sorry little glitch! The poll should appear for you now cwmson820. Just refresh your page and it should appear. Thanks!
Millie has my vote! She is adorable, easy going and well trained. We give each other a high five everytime we see each other. She's the top choice in my opinion!!
For all of you Millie fans out there, old and new, vote #12! She is a Portuguese Water Dog and has been bringing love to everyone she meets for over four years. Can't wait to see you out and about in Charleston to say thanks for voting!
As official spokesman for Wally, (aka contestant number 24), he has asked me to relay that he is very grateful to be nominated in the Top 25. He also asked me not to pander to the voters by begging for votes. He feels that if his charm, charisma, and stunningly good looks aren't enough to make you vote for him, then why stoop to shameless self-promotion? Wally has simply asked me to relay that he would be honored for you to vote for him - but only if you want the cutest dog to win. If that's not what you wish, then by all means - please vote for one of the other 23 competitors.
Thank You,
Wally The Westie.

I can tell from the pic, and from his "campaign manager" that Wally has all kinds of personality! what a cutie!

I've changed some settings around so you no longer need to be registered here on lowcountrydog.com and logged in to access the poll. If any of you are still not seeing the buttons next to each dog's name and the VOTE button at the very bottom of the list, please email me at leah@lowcountrydog.com
But first, refresh your page, and perhaps even empty out your computer's cache.
Vote for Muggle!! He was rescued from a kill-shelter in the upstate in December (thanks Palmetto Paws) at 18 mos old, not housebroken, not trained, and timid. Now he's a lovey, friendly guy who loves his cat-siblings, and his 'best-bud' next store, Dagan. He's in intermediate obedience school and on his way to agility training next. And for those of you who remember Fraggle Rock, doesn't he look just like Sprocket?

He DOES look like Sprocket! Down to Fraggle Rock! *clap, *clap!
Vote for Winston. From one bulldog to another.

How sweet, Higgins. And you should know that you were in the Top 50! You took a great photo too. Bulldogs are just so handsome!
Oliver (#15) arrived in Charleston in January thanks to Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas! He's a goofy little boy who loves to stick his tongue out.
Vote for Oliver! He'll be sure to give you doggie kisses when he sees you!
Daphne should be your choice!!! My children and I went to the Local ASPA to find a pet to love. My daugher picked a dog and my son picked a dog. We were only allowed to bring one home so we had to make a tough decision. We all agreed and picked my daughters choice as he was very shy and scared and in need of a good home quickly. My son was sad for days, I told him if the dog you picked is still there on Saturday (one week later) we will take her home. (knowing that dog was so cute there is no way she is still there) Sure enough Daphane had a cough so they had her out of circulation for adopting. We knew this dog had to come home with us, we asked the Manager if we could adopt the dog and bring her home that day so we can take care of her cough with love!!! They let us and she is the most loveable, huggable and kissable dog around and now a big part of our family. Since my sons favorite show is Scooby-Doo he named her Daphne. Daphne's nick name is crazy lady as she is very active. Yes, now we have two wonderful dogs. We are so proud of Daphne and we hope that she is your favorite also!!!

What a sweet story! Your son and Daphne obviously made a deep connection that day. It was meant to be!
Oh I'm so glad you took her home! Muggle came with a cough, too, and seems rather susceptible to them. They each have such wonderful, heartbreaking, and heartwarming stories - can't there be 25 cover dogs?! Even though I'm rooting for my own dog to win, I want to go in and vote for each of them!
Please vote for Charlie (#3). He was found along with his brothers and sisters in a drainage culvert along the side of the road where his mom had been killed by a passing car. While he's cute in the pic, you have to see the whole package to fully appreciate him! His tail is simply amazing!!!! He is the happiest dog we have ever met--always has a smile on his face. Anyway, a vote for Charlie is a vote for rescues all across the country :)
It's obvious from that happy face that Charlie found the home he was meant for! Congratulations and Good luck!
Gertie all the way!
I love Jack. He is such a good dog and loves his sister Maggie so much. Every time I visit, Jack acts like I am the center of his universe ( and he is the center of mine).
He is quite the social butterfly around other dogs, too.
Go Team PIBBER #17 !!!!! Look at that cute face !!!!
that choc. pup IS adorable!!!!!! but I'm really a choc lover!!! so it would naturally get my vote....look @ those eyes...
"peeze, take me home...I'm soooooooo lovable"
getrie is a boykin spaniel and cute as a button! she's got quite a personality to her as well.
VOTE FOR RYLEE! Rylee wants this soooo bad! she's an awesome dog and always catches the eye of everyone when we go places....everyone loves those long hound ears! she loves the camera and "poses" all the time! Vote for Rylee Charleston and we wont let you down! lol....and that aint no lie! Rylee is a Black and Tan Coonhound which for this part of the country is a rarely seen breed....everyone thinks shes a Rottie or a Doberman or at least a mix! she's NOT! she's a very sweet dog who loves to cuddle at night and run as long as i'll let her! she's 100% on all day but as soon as the lights go out so does she! she's an entergetic dog and it showes in all her pictures and she would be an AWESOME cover dog! VOTE FOR RYLEE PLEASE!
beautiful dogs
vote #teamPenny http://picasaweb.google.com/ctemples/TeamPenny#
she's too cute to lose
VOTE for WALLY(#24)!!!! Wally lives in my neighborhood and he is so cute! And I am a proud owner of a Wesite too :) They are the BEST!!!!!!!
GO WALLY!!!!!!
Please vote for Annwyn. Ever since our 8 month old daughter passed in December 2009, our dogs have been one of the few sources of happiness. Annwyn seems to understand our pain and loss more than most people would believe. She always tries to comfort us when we are having a crying spell/depression fit, and when we are in a brighter mood, she loves to play and act goofy to make us smile. She is very smart and knows sit, lay down, how to catch treats, and is learning many other tricks. She has yet to meet someone, person OR dog, that she doesn't like. Please, vote for this special dog that wants to make people smile when they truly need it. We are blessed to have her.
Darrell and Tina Holmes
Vote for Millie, the cutest Millie Bear in the world!
MILLIE---MILLIE---MILLIE! she'll give you high-5 and roll over and let you rub her belly if you vote for her!
VOTE FOR GERTIE!!!!!!!!!! She is a go mode puppy who is always out for an adventure! She was brought into my home after my great-grandmother passed away, where she was named after her and now is showing the same personality signs of my great-grandmother! I just found out she was born on my my great-grandmother's birthday too!!!
