Magnolia Plantation and Lowcountry Dog Magazine bring you the adoption event of the year. During the months of August and September, any family who adopts a dog with the 15 participating shelters and rescues gets a FREE year long family pass to Magnolia Plantation. We have 1500 passes to give away! To celebrate we are throwing the largest adoption event ever and having all 15 rescue groups, yes 15 rescue groups out to Magnolia Plantation to promote adoptions! We will have live music and food available. 

This is a FREE event just outside the gates to the Gardens! 

Paid admission will be required to enter Magnolia Gardens.

Dog Day Afternoon at Whirlin' Waters

Celebrate the dog days of summer with man's best friend. It's a day so nice, we're doing it twice! September 9 at Splash Island Waterpark in Mount Pleasant and September 10 at Whirlin' Waters in North Charleston.

September 10: Only 1,000 tickets will be sold!

Tickets
• Advance tickets: $12 per dog
• At the gate: $15 per dog

Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 7. You may call Park & Program Services at 843-795-4386 up until the day before each event. On the day of each event, admission must be purchased at the gate if available.

Admission tickets will be mailed if purchased more than 7 days prior to the event. Tickets purchased 7 or fewer days prior to the event will be picked up at the entrance to the event. No refunds issued or rain dates scheduled.

• Dogs must have all current vaccinations.
• The pools, shallow wading areas, and lazy rivers will only be
open for dogs.
• Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
• Admission ticket (not receipt) is required for entry.
• Swimming is for dogs only. Humans should not enter the
water past knee depth.

Helpful Hints For a Great Time
• All dogs must be current on all vaccinations for entry into the
event: rabies, distemper, parvo virus, and bordetella. 
• Prior to entering the waterpark, please walk your dog to help
him/her relieve themselves, and be sure to pick up any waste. 
Waste bags will be available. We would like to avoid
accidents in the pool as much as possible. 
• Your dog may be released from the leash upon entering the
waterparks. 
• Humans should not enter the water past knee depth. 
Swimming is for dogs only. 
• Please do not trim your dog’s nails prior to attending Dog Day
Afternoon. Dogs will be running on the concrete area and nails
will wear down quickly. 
• Your dog must remain under your control at all times. 
• Please be aware of where your dog is at all times. 
• Be sure your dog has been exposed to swimming prior to the
event. 
• Be courteous to other guests. Manage your dog, and clean up
as necessary. 
• Female dogs in season are not allowed. No puppies under 6
months of age are allowed. 
• Outside food and drink (dog and human) is not allowed in the
pool area. Concessions will be available for human visitors, 
but must be eaten in the concessions area. Fresh water will
be available for dogs throughout the event.

$5 per CAR in advance, or $10 at the gate

Proceeds from this event will support local H.F. Help, a no-kill rescue with strong military ties. Check out their inspiring legacy at http://www.hfhelp.org/ We’ll also be carrying on our tradition of helping local elementary school, Frierson, as they wrap up the school year and look forward to the summer.

We'll have live music, food trucks, beer from LowTide Brewing, vendors, and a jump castle, swings, slushies, and water balloons for the kids.
Music: Cotton Blue Band, McKenna Andrews, Rawberry Jam, and Champagne & Friends

Food: Immortal Lobster, Miracle's Tasty Express Hotdogs, Gidget Gourmet, Kay’s Southern Gourmet, and Sweet Lulu’s Bakery

Activities will include a Fido Marketplace with exhibitors such as Hairy Winston Pet Boutique, K9 Warriors, Lowcountry Dog Magazine, Bark West Dog Spa, Meow Bark & Board, Riley's Place Pet Retreat, East Cooper Animal Hospital, Chi on Wheels, Advanced Animal Care of Mt. Pleasant, Camp Bow Wow and Love and a Leash. Plus, a Fido Play Area, arts & crafts with Art-Vark Palette, DJ and photobooth provided by Complete weddings + events, face painting, balloon animals, contests and much more.

Wine & Design Mount Pleasant will be on hand with Paint your Paw - only $10 per canvas with 50% of the proceeds donated to Pet Helpers. 

Holy City Homemade Italian Ice, Dave N Dubs Hot Dogs, King of Pops and Pure Fluff Co. will have snacks for you and your four-legged friends!

Fido Fest will benefit Pet Helpers, who will be on site collecting donations and providing information on their pet adoption programs. Pet Helpers is a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 Rescue and Adoption Center and low-cost Spay/Neuter & Veterinary Center that serves communities across the Lowcountry. Their mission is to end the euthanasia of all adoptable cats and dogs by keeping all animals until adopted; providing low cost spay/neuter surgeries; offering humane education programs; pursuing animal-cruelty prosecution; and initiating animal-welfare legislation.

Our pets love us unconditionally - so why not give back to your best friends by bringing them out to experience a day of fun, frolic and exploration? Pets and their owners are invited to join us for a full weekend of exhibits, demonstrations, experts, entertainment, and more at Charleston’s premiere pet festival! Pet Fest provides an opportunity for local pet-related organizations and businesses to showcase their causes, products and services in a fun, animal-friendly environment. Leashed pets are welcome with their owners! Or, come to the festival in search of your new best friend from Charleston Animal Society and other area rescue groups, who will have adoptable animals on site.

• Dates & Times: March 18 & 19, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Admission: $8 per person. Children 12 and under, Gold Pass Members, and leashed pets are free.
• Admission discounted to $5 per person with pet food or pet supply item donation.
• Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is limited.
• ID is required to purchase alcohol. Outside food, alcohol, and coolers are prohibited.
